Avan Porukku Ponaan Lyrics

What is the meaning of Avan Porukku Ponaan lyrics?

This poignant song expresses the deep anguish and longing of a woman whose beloved has gone to war. She metaphorically describes herself as the "battlefield" because his absence and the uncertainty of his return have turned her inner world into a warzone of emotions. The loss of her "eyes" signifies her inability to see a future without him, her protector and poet, whose departure has stripped her of her sense of security and joy. The repeated questions about his chariot, a message, and his return emphasize her desperate hope and the torment of waiting. The lyrics further reveal her heartbreak as she recalls how he once saw her, perhaps admiringly, but now seems to have forgotten their shared future, symbolized by the wedding altar and floral garland. Her yearning for his return is not just physical but emotional and spiritual, as she questions if he still remembers her love, if he will fulfill their vows, and if he will finally acknowledge her suffering and offer comfort. The song beautifully captures the profound impact of separation and the enduring hope for reunion in the face of war.
