Kalviye Pradhanam Lyrics

What is the meaning of Kalviye Pradhanam lyrics?

This song, 'Kalviye Pradhanam,' from the 1958 film 'Neelavukku Neranja Manasu,' is a powerful ode to the importance of education. It begins by declaring education as paramount, equating it to one's eyes, suggesting that just as eyes provide sight and guidance, education illuminates the path of life. The lyrics emphasize the wisdom of the ancient Tamil poet Avvaiyar, urging listeners to cherish her teachings and strive to expand their knowledge. The song's core message is a timeless call to value intellectual growth above all else. The second part of the song further elaborates on the unique nature of education as a form of wealth. It highlights that education is a treasure that grows as it is shared and utilized, unlike material possessions. Crucially, it asserts that this wealth is impervious to theft; no thief can break in and steal knowledge. This contrasts sharply with worldly riches, which are vulnerable to loss. The song thus positions education as the most secure, enduring, and valuable asset one can possess, promoting a philosophical and practical approach to life.
