Kannil Kodi Lyrics

What is the meaning of Kannil Kodi lyrics?

The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a soul burdened by immense guilt and an inescapable curse. The protagonist feels overwhelmed by "countless rivers of sin" flowing within, desperately seeking an end to their suffering. The rhetorical questions about the sun not leaving the sky and waves not crossing shores emphasize the feeling of an unchangeable, inherent nature of their predicament, suggesting that just as these natural phenomena are bound by their essence, so too is the protagonist bound by their sins and curse. The second part of the song delves deeper into this internal torment. A "snake of guilt" wriggles within, symbolizing a constant, agonizing presence of remorse. The plea for "sleep" to "bite" them is a desperate cry for release, hinting at a desire for death or an end to consciousness as the only escape from their pain. The image of a "needle pricking" in the eye further illustrates the persistent, irritating, and inescapable nature of their suffering, leaving the protagonist questioning where their path will ultimately lead to find peace or an end to this torment.
