Kannurangu Lyrics

What is the meaning of Kannurangu lyrics?

This song, "Kannurangu" (Sleep, My Mother), is a heartfelt lullaby sung by a son to his mother, expressing profound gratitude and love. It beautifully captures the essence of a mother's selfless sacrifices and the son's promise to now care for her. The lyrics highlight the mother's unwavering dedication, how she transformed her own life and endured hardships ("darkened taproot") to ensure her child's well-being. The son acknowledges her as his "divine one" who carried him from the womb and nourished him when he was "a weary cloud." The central theme revolves around the role reversal where the son, now grown, urges his mother to rest peacefully, assuring her that he is capable of taking on the world for her. He promises to make the "earth hers" and asks her to "sleep," signifying his readiness to shoulder responsibilities and provide her with comfort and security, just as she did for him. The song is a poignant tribute to maternal love, emphasizing the deep emotional bond and the son's desire to repay her boundless affection and sacrifices.
