Maiyal Lyrics

What is the meaning of Maiyal lyrics?

The song "Maiyal" explores themes of self-discovery, infatuation, and the blurring lines between self and other, often using the metaphor of a mirror. The protagonist is captivated by their own reflection or perhaps a doppelganger, experiencing a profound sense of 'maiyal' (infatuation). The mirror, initially just a reflection of beauty, transforms into an entire world, beckoning them inward. This internal conflict—whether to embrace this reflection or remain separate—highlights a journey of self-acceptance and the intoxicating allure of seeing oneself anew, or seeing a kindred spirit that feels like an extension of oneself. As the song progresses, the infatuation deepens into a complete surrender, where the boundaries of identity dissolve. The lines "Who am I, who are you? I forgot" perfectly encapsulate this merging. The imagery of everything being "doubled" and words becoming "sweet" suggests a heightened, almost dreamlike state of love or self-absorption. The idea of the mirror "getting scratched" from passionate kisses implies a breaking of barriers, a raw intimacy that transcends mere reflection, leading to a profound emotional opening where the soul is revealed. It's a poetic exploration of falling in love with an image, a self, or another that feels so intrinsically connected.
