Porkanda Singam Lyrics

What is the meaning of Porkanda Singam lyrics?

This song, 'Porkanda Singam,' from the movie 'Vikram (2022),' is a deeply emotional lament sung from the perspective of a parent figure (specifically, a grandfather in the film's context) to a child. The lyrics express profound grief and helplessness as the world seems to stop in the face of an unimaginable tragedy or threat to the child. The lines convey a poignant dilemma, questioning whether to offer comfort or perform final rites, highlighting the immense pain and confusion of a guardian witnessing their loved one's suffering or loss. Despite the overwhelming sorrow and feeling 'broken,' the song transitions into a powerful declaration of unwavering love and sacrifice. The parent, likening themselves to a 'lion that has seen war' but now carries a 'heart filled with pain,' vows to live solely for the child. It's a promise of eternal protection, where the parent offers their own life and well-being to shield the child, even if it means withering away in the process. The song encapsulates the fierce, sacrificial love of a guardian determined to protect their offspring at all costs.
