Tholil Vizhum Malaiye Lyrics

What is the meaning of Tholil Vizhum Malaiye lyrics?

This song, "Tholil Vizhum Malaiye," from the 1988 film 'Ullathil Nalla Ullam,' is a classic romantic duet that beautifully captures the intense longing and passion between lovers. The lyrics express the overwhelming feelings of desire and restlessness that the evening brings, personifying it as a time when Kama, the God of Love, torments the heart. Both the male and female voices convey a deep yearning for union, where the absence of the beloved makes even the most beautiful things, like a flower-bed poem, incomplete. The song uses rich metaphors, comparing the inevitable union of lovers to a river merging with the sea, emphasizing the natural and irresistible pull they feel towards each other. The song further explores the transformative power of love, where the cold winter chill feels like summer, and every glance or movement ignites desire. It speaks of a love so profound that it merges two souls like raindrops becoming one with honey, urging an end to any separation or hesitation. The recurring theme is the inability to find peace or sleep due to the constant thoughts of the beloved, highlighting how love consumes one's waking and dreaming moments. It's a celebration of passionate love, the joy of anticipated union, and the sweet torment of longing, set against a melodious backdrop that enhances its romantic essence.
