Mayiladum Paraiyil Lyrics

What is the meaning of Mayiladum Paraiyil lyrics?

This song is a heartfelt devotional plea to Lord Muruga, sung from the perspective of a distressed parent, likely a mother, whose child is unable to walk. The lyrics beautifully contrast the natural world's constant motion – the peacock's dance, the rooster's stride, and the river's flow, all associated with Muruga – with the tragic immobility of her own tender child. The parent questions the deity, who is believed to be the very source of all movement and life, why he remains unmoved by her child's plight. The emotional core of the song lies in its poignant questioning and desperate yearning. It expresses a universal parental anguish, appealing to the divine for a miracle. The repeated lines, "Will your heart not be moved? Will the child's limbs not move, Muruga?" underscore the depth of her sorrow and her unwavering faith that only divine intervention can bring relief. It's a powerful expression of devotion mixed with a mother's sorrow and hope.
