Solla Theriyaamal Lyrics

What is the meaning of Solla Theriyaamal lyrics?

The song "Solla Theriyaamal" from 'Kanniyin Sabatham' beautifully captures the nascent, unspoken feelings of love in a young woman's heart. She describes a sweet joy that has blossomed within her, yet she struggles to articulate it, leading to a daily torment of unexpressed emotions. Her admiration for the man is profound; she sees him as a skilled poet whose music can soften stone, a charming figure from a noble lineage, and a man of purpose whose words are as sweet as sugarcane. His presence is so captivating that her feet refuse to move when she sees him. The lyrics further delve into her internal conflict. She admits to having playfully intended to "conquer" him with her gaze, but her inherent modesty, a virtue of her Tamil heritage, prevented her from acting on these impulses. The newness of these feelings is overwhelming, likened to "new wonders of melody" that seek her out. She questions the nature of these intense emotions, wondering if it is true love or merely a fleeting drama of youth, highlighting the confusion and excitement that often accompany first love.
